Your Help Needed
A Message from Groups Secretary Sally Barnard
We have about 30 groups currently and are hugely grateful to the Leaders/Co-ordinators of them, some of whom have been leading for many years and others who have joined more recently.
With our membership now at 360+ (the highest ever) the time has come to encourage, and above all support, newer members to take on the role of Leaders.
My recent emails to you all have suggested new groups that members would like:
18 have expressed an interest. Ash Manor has a court for hire. £12.50 or £20 an hour with lighting
Computer Support Group
21 members expressed an interest and I’ve had 3 people say they would offer their skills to help lead a group.
8 interested, no leader.
A Foreign Language
Specifically French, German, Italian and Spanish
Should run with Rod Dengate volunteering to lead the group with support. 12 members expressed an interest in response and there were others who came to the meeting a few weeks ago.
7 INTERESTED BUT NO LEADER. Someone pointed out that there is the gardening group that meets at Victoria Hall but it’s an evening meeting.
Short Tennis 5 of you were interested
10 interested, leader found
Short Mat Bowls
Led by Graham who runs the other two Tai Chi groups.
Patchwork Quilt Beginners’ 1 year course
To enable you to have your own finished quilt by the end! Potential leader has suggested this.
PLEASE COULD YOU LEAD ONE OF THESE GROUPS? (either on your own or as part of a team) OR DO YOU KNOW SOMEONE WHO CAN?
Some of you must be able to offer a language at a basic level?
Or show people how to prepare meals if they’re suddenly in the situation where they have to?
Or share your gardening endeavours with others?
Someone must enjoy going to the theatre. Why not take other people, who perhaps don’t drive, with you?
I will investigate some of the sports that have been suggested. I’m particularly interested in Walking Netball and would help to run it. Surely the rules can’t be too different from the game a lot of us played as youngsters!
OUR ORGANISATION IS ABOUT SELF HELP. PLEASE CAN YOU DO THAT?
