We begin the day travelling by train to Waterloo and tube to Sloane Square. Here the walk starts, passing The Chelsea Hospital and making its way through side streets to Albert Bridge. Crossing the River Thames it takes in Battersea Park, where there will be a lunch stop, before returning over Albert Bridge to continue through Chelsea to the impressive Grade 1 listed Brompton Cemetery. The route then works its way to the trendy Kings Road and the Worlds End. Following the Kings Road back to Sloane Square excursions are made through side streets and squares to take in some of the varied architecture, picturesque and elegant, that Chelsea is noted for.
We then take the tube to Embankment, walk over Hungerford Bridge to the South Bank where for those who wish to have a meal a booking has been made at the Archduke Restaurant near the Festival Hall for 6pm. The cost (3 courses with options for each) including service charge will be £26.00.
We will all meet at Ash Vale station at 09.00 to allow enough time to organize group tickets to catch the 09.39 to Waterloo. At the Group Ticket rate the fare is approximately £21 per person, payable on the day.
If you are interested in taking part please contact Andy Fuller for more information and an application form.
The closing date for applications is the 29th November 2019.
