This poster advertised a lecture tour by Ernest Shackleton after his first expedition to The South Pole in 1907-1909.
Our speaker, Frank Marshall will recount Shackleton's next expedition to Antarctica.
In 1914 Ernest Shackleton left England bound for Antartica, the purpose being to traverse the continent from west to east by use of dog sleds. Frank's slide show is taken from the original plate glass photographs created by the ships’ photographer, Frank Hurley. It tells the story of an amazing adventure over the next 4 years in which there was much hardship, but it was Shackleton's leadership that ensured everyone survived.
