Bringing people together

Reading Group

Leader: Sandra Tilley / 01252 325614

Day & Time: Last Wednesday of the Month at 14:00

Venue: Member’s home

Our very friendly Reading Group meets on the last Wednesday of every month at our  Member’s houses. At the beginning of the year, in September,  members bring along a few suggestions for inclusion in a list which we can refer to throughout the year.

During  Covid Restrictions, after a few failed attempts and with the very kind help of a members husband, we were able to run our meetings on Zoom. We are now very happy to be enjoying meeting up again with a cup of tea and a biscuit.

We normally borrow our books from Ash library but if the library does not have enough copies we try and source our own. The library charges of  £3.25 per month are collected at the beginning of each year.

These are just a few of our most recent favourite reads we we can definitely recommend:

  • Hamnet…….Maggie O’Farrell
  • Where the Crawdads Sing…….Delia Owens
  • A Gentleman in Moscow……..Amor Towles
  • A Prayer for Owen Meanie…….John Irving
  • Persuasion………Jane Austin
