How Voltaire changed religious intolerance laws
This month we were treated to the story of Jean Callas, a protestant living in a catholic country, whose treatment led to the involvement of the author Voltaire, who campaigned for the changing of religious intolerence laws in France and other countries. There are many books about the Calas affair, but we were able to enjoy a talk by a U3A member on his personal connection with the family.
