Speaker: Fran Sandham

Fran Sandham will talk about the history and controversy surrounding the meeting in 1871 of Stanley and Livingstone in the African town of Ujiji in the country now called Tanzania.

He is the author of the non-fiction book 'Traversa: A solo walk across Africa' (see www.traversa.co.uk), and he has written for many newspapers, magazines and travel publications, including the Sunday Times, Travel Africa and Country Walking.

Speaker: Jo Livingstone

 

In 2012 Jo Livingston, one of the Directors of Face Blind UK, set out to gather the lived experience of individuals diagnosed with prosopagnosia, the inability to recognise faces. Some stories are funny, some quite poignant, but together they bring a neurological condition to life and place it in a personal and social context.
Prosopagnosia is a difficult condition to convey to other people, because recognising faces is such an automatic skill for most people. Jo will explain what it’s like is through examples drawn from everyday life.
