Ash u3a Thursday Lunchers
Newsletter No 28 – October 2025
24 members attended our second lunch of the year at the Curzon Restaurant in Ash including new members Sally and Martin for the second time. We welcomed Ali, Gill and Don for the first time and look forward to getting to know them over the coming months.
It was lovely to see Christine B again after a few months of being unable to join us.
The Curzon is one of our favourite venues, but unfortunately, although the environment was enjoyed by all and a lot of members’ meals were good, some members’ meals were not up to the standard we have come to expect. The level of service was also not as good as on previous visits. Individual’s complaints were dealt with by the manager.
Unfortunately the problems were more widespread than I had first realised and more members have come forward with complaints. I have spoken in depth to the manager and I am waiting for him to investigate and get back to me. Additionally I have written to all members who attended to establish their views on the meals that they had.
Ash u3a has a new Chairman who is keen for Group Leaders to publish their Group’s recent activities on the Ash u3a website. My monthly Newsletters are currently published just on our Webpage by the Ash u3a Website Administrator. I will be attending training to enable me to publish directly rather than having to go through him. I know that there has been some concerns in the wider u3a about privacy so please be assured that in future I will not publish any photographs of Thursday Lunchers members nor use surnames in the Newsletters.
I had the pleasure of chatting to some new members who were new to the u3a, not just our Group and it struck me that they had joined an organization that they knew very little about (particularly details of activities), so I thought it might be useful to include a link that hopefully will enable them to find out more about the huge range of activities offered by Ash u3a.
