Bayeux Tapestry
57 members attended the May Monthly Meeting in St Mary’s Church Hall. The Speaker, James Dickinson, gave a 2 part presentation; firstly giving us the history of Harold and William and why William, known as the Conqueror, was entitled to come to England and seize the throne. And then how a group of Kentish nuns embroidered the story onto linen and then it was taken to France and became know as the Bayeux Tapestry.
It comes to England for the first time in September 2026 and can be seen in the British Museum until July 2027.
