Climate Crisis is Already Here!
Ash u3a Science & Technology Group was treated to two well researched presentations on the very topical subject of climate change by two of our group members on Friday 4th September – it will soon become a very tropical subject!
Bob Ashby demonstrated the precise correlation between daily high mean temperatures and heat related deaths, quoting statistics from the UK Health Security Agency.
Hand in hand with the heat waves this year came drought. Charles Stokes used statistics collected over the last 16 years by one of our members to show how rainfall patterns are changing – even in Ash.
Then he reviewed ways of transferring surplus rainfall from the wetter north west to the drier south east of England.
