We are a friendly Photography Group where the emphasis is on the story behind the picture rather than the technical proficiency of the photographer. We have over 30 members and many of us take our photos on our smartphones rather than a conventional camera.
Our Group was represented at the annual Ash Fete on 29th June 2024, where we showcased this selection of photos:-
Our meetings include a technical topic which might be a video tutorial or practical demonstration. At our October 2023 meeting one of our members, Michael Connelly, gave an excellent talk about lenses and his career as a professional photographer.
Here is the latest bulletin from the group which reports on our June 2024 meeting. It also includes our programme for the 2024 session. You can download it by clicking this link:

The monthly photo subject, with members submitting up to four photos with at least one of them colour and one of them black and white, is a major feature of our meetings where the emphasis is on the story behind the picture rather than its technical excellence. The theme for July/August 2024 is “Summer Adventures” and the results will be reviewed at the meeting on 13th September 2024. In August, the Group does not have a meeting as members take their summer break.
If you are new to Ash U3A and would like to join our friendly Photography Group, you are welcome to attend the first two meetings free on a trial basis. You can also meet the Team at our stall at the Ash u3a Open Day on 29th August – see the Open Day page:
