Bringing People Together

First Ramble of 2026

On a frosty, misty morning and despite traffic problems affecting Ash, Ash Vale and the Hog’s Back that resulted in a 30 minute delay to the start, six members of the Rambling Group made it to Artington for a very enjoyable walk along the Wey Navigation, through Shalford, round Chinthurst Hill, along the Downs Link path and back along the Wey. The Wey was looking noticeably swollen by recent rains and was flowing at a fair rate but walking conditions were surprising good, with only one particularly muddy section encountered that all negotiated without mishap. As can be seen, the sun shining through the mist made for quite atmospheric conditions.

Many thanks to Nigel for leading the walk and to Peter for the photos.
