Cobbetthill Common, Merrist Wood and Pirbright Common
Eight members of the Rambling group met on a beautiful sunny morning at Bullswater Common, near Pirbright, for a circular walk of 5.2 miles as shown below.

Starting off by passing the entrance to the Pirbright Institute we then headed through the woods adjacent to Cobbetthill Common, taking in a short section of boardwalk over a very boggy area which was still waterlogged despite the recent prolonged dry spell. We continued to Merrist Wood Agriculture College, stopping briefly to take in a view of the Hog’s Back.

From Merrist Wood a path took us between fields to the A322. Passing Christmas Bakery (no time for cakes I’m afraid) we continued to Fox Corner and then Pirbright Common, coming across a picturesque old mill (now a house) on route.
After a short loop to make up the distance we were back at the start.
