Sinking of HMS India
“On the very same day as his brother, Arnold enrolled to serve in WW1. He signed up for the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserves and in April 1915 set sail on HMS India. 51 Ash u3a members attended an unusual and very entertaining talk by Rebecca Clarke. She vividly described the sinking of HMS India early in WW1, and the incarceration of the surviving seamen in a Norway prisoner of war camp.
Her research extended to contacting the grandchildren of the survivors and she is the author of a very successful book entitled A bare Chronicle of existence which gives the full story.
