Bringing People Together

Photography Group February Meeting

22 members attended our sixth Photography Group meeting of the 2025–2026 session, held on Friday 13th February. Paul led the review of members’ submissions on the theme of “Mystery Object”. 59 photographs were submitted by 19 members. It proved to be a lively and entertaining session, with members trying to identify a wide range of images — from extreme close-ups of everyday objects to more unusual items, such as a hand-operated sardine canning machine and part of a Harrier jet. The session was greatly enjoyed, and there has been a request to repeat this type of theme in the future.

After the break, Mike gave a very informative and detailed demonstration of editing photographs on a mobile phone. He covered cropping, removing unwanted distractions, converting images to black and white, and adjusting saturation and contrast. He also demonstrated a variety of attachable phone lenses and some ingenious homemade phone-stabilising devices.
