Photography Group January Meeting
We had a good attendance of 23 members at our fifth Photography Group meeting of the 2025–2026 session, held on Friday 9th January.
We reviewed members’ submissions on the theme “Trees – bark, leaves, branches or the whole tree”, led by Paul. A total of 71 photographs were submitted by 24 members. The images ranged from single trees to groups of trees, as well as trees cut into logs or used in artwork. Details included bark, seed pods, roots and fungi growing on trees. Many were lit by natural or artificial light, and there was even an artificial tree made from Lego. Trees from different parts of the world were also featured, including an ancient fig.

After the break, we watched two slide shows. Gordon Holliday presented “Autumn on Puttenham Common”, featuring low, misty autumn light, followed by Mike Connelly’s “Eagle’s Eye View” taken from fighter jets when he was a professional photographer. Finally we watched a video tutorial on photographing landscapes in misty, dull conditions using a minimalist black-and-white style.
