Photography Group June Meeting
Eighteen members attended the tenth Photography Group meeting of the 2025–2026 session, held on Friday 12th June. The theme for members’ submissions was “Transport”, led by Paul.
In total, 60 photographs were submitted by 20 members. The images showcased a remarkable variety of transport, ranging from the unusual to the everyday, including walking and horse-drawn travel, the age of steam, and today’s electric-powered vehicles.
We also enjoyed a number of interesting photographs from Africa, where much transport still relies on human power, alongside images of ageing vehicles that have long outlived their expected service life and some extraordinarily large and powerful transport machines.
Here are some of the images:

Following the refreshment break, we viewed two videos. The first, “7 Simple Photography Tips”, covered topics including depth of field, composition and lighting.
Peter then presented an excellent and informative video that he had produced himself. Continuing the transport theme, it documented a trip from Southampton aboard the SS Shieldhall. The film included a tour of the vessel, insights into the workings of the engine room, and demonstrations of sea-rescue training exercises.
Our next meeting is on 10th July. New members always welcome!
