Directions - Puttenham middle car park can only be accessed at the moment from Puttenham village. From the A31 Hog's Back take the B3000 and near the bottom of the hill take 1st right into The Street and then 1st left into Suffield Lane ignoring road closed signs. Go past the top car park on the right and again ignore road closed signs until just before a physical barrier across the lane, at The Tarn end, where you turn right into the car park.
The Walk - The route is 5.2miles long, an anti clockwise circuit of the common and consists of woodland, pasture and some heathland. It takes in sections of The Fox Way and The North Downs Way, and is undulating.
Additional Notes:
- Stiles: 1
- Road walking: 2 short sections, 1 of which is mainly on pavement.
- Steep climbs: 1 short section.
- Shorts not recommended.
- Just over a mile into the route there is a short muddy section with some low hanging tree branches, which will need a bit of care to negotiate.
