August 2026 Newsletter
Summertime. And the living is easy. And so it was in 1934 when written by George Gershwin. Eddie Cochran had a different take in 1958 with the Summertime Blues. I could make comment that perhaps some of you were around for at least one of these but that would be rude. We are all far too young.
Anyway, off to the seaside right now with thanks to Heather and the wonderful Art for All Group.
AGM and Open Day
Back again this year on 27 Aug at 1.30 in the Ash Centre. A chance to meet up with old friends and hopefully join a new class.
The group leaders have been reporting back and many of the groups have vacancies. So as Fred Pontin used to say Book Early!
The AGM will follow the Open Day. There are changes to the membership fee so you really need to attend to get the details. We are also going to vote on adoption of the new Constitution. This is an important vote as it lays down the rules by which we operate our charity.
You will soon receive an email with the call-in-notice for the AGM.
Cream Tea
Early in July all the group leaders, volunteers ,helpers and committee were all invited to a Thank You cream tea at Graham and Michelle’s house. 40 turned for a most convivial afternoon.
Tai Chi in the Park
Every 6 months local groups join together to do some Tai Chi. This summer we met is Aldershot for lots of Tai Chi, laughs and a picnic lunch.
Ripley and the Wey
Off to River Wey went the Healthy Walkers. Looks like everyone enjoyed the walk.
Ash Green Meadows
And off they go again! The healthy walkers took at second trip out this time to the Ash Green Meadows

Look up was the theme this month by the photography group. An interesting set of ideas.

The Amblers, Healthy Walkers and Ramblers all have walks planned in August. I’m sure they can accommodate if you want to join them. And there is a garden visit to Longstock Park Water Garden which looks wonderful. If that tickles your fancy get in contact with Linda and see if you can tag along.
