Healthy Walking

17/05/2021 Relaxation of Coronavirus rules means that any group of up to 30 people can meet outside for exercise  – Formal walk risk assessments are no longer required. However please would all walk leaders : recce their walk and provide information to the group leaders to put on the event entry.  For example –  any gates, stiles, roads to cross,  narrow paths , issues with car parking, etc.  Walks will still need to follow the current guidelines – do not attend if you or someone in your household is displaying symptoms of Covid-19  , please observe social distancing and bring hand sanitiser and a face covering.

All walks are subject to COVID-19 rules – walks MAY be cancelled at short notice – please check website !

Our walks are relatively easy, about  3 1/2 to 4 miles taking around 1 ½ to 1 ¾ hours at a steady pace. All walks are planned and led by group members and cover various parts of the lovely countryside around Ash. We finish at our starting points which are often pub car parks, or close by, so when Covid 19 regulations allow refreshments can be enjoyed afterwards with friends and group members.

The walk will provide a good workout with undulating wide tracks, 2 cattlegrids /gates but no stiles.  It may be muddy in places.

Meet at the Tweseldown car park which is just past the race course.

Take the A325 from Farnborough heading towards Aldershot.  At the Wellington Roundabout take the 3rd exit onto Wellesley Road and then follow on past Tweseldown Race Course and immediately right into car park with height barrier.

Healthy Walking - Ripley

Ripley, Pyrford and Wey Navigation

Walk is around 3.75 miles long.

Walk takes in the Walsham Weir, Pyrford and passes Newark Priory. There is a section of road walking passing Newark Priory but there is a path.  2 Stiles , 1 boggy tow path section and one short steep descent.

Heading north from Guildford on A3  take the Ripley turn off B2215 and continue almost through Ripley High Street to turn left (The Green) and park near the Children's Play Area.

Healthy Walking - Mytchett Canal Centre

Along canal to Deepcut

Meet in the canal centre car park off Mytchett Place Road.

The walk will go north along the canal to Deepcut and back through woodland.  There are a couple of small hills and descents.

The walk can be be wet and muddy but hopefully things will be drier in March!
