Book Worms

This is a very friendly, small group of 10 members. We generally order books through Ash Library which cost £3.50 for each set. This year we have each paid £5 upfront so we’re not chasing round for coins when it’s our turn to pay!
We meet on the last Thursday of each month from 10am-12 in a member’s house, cafe or local hostelry.
Our group read for enjoyment and friendship with light refreshments (tea, coffee, biscuits, cake, etc..) we chat about the books that we have chosen and read. Everyone gets a chance to share their opinion on this month’s book, but it doesn’t have to be a high brow indepth analysis, just your honest opinion is all that is required! Its always fun to see where the conversation will go next as the books bring up some really interesting topics.
Here’s some examples of the books we have read:
- Just Ignore Him by Alan Davies
- To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
- Coming Up Trumps by Jean Trumpington
- The Tattooist of Auschwitz by Heather Morris
We have mostly enjoyed all the books so far; giving them fairly high scores out of 10. We all agree that since joining the group we are reading more and experiencing new authors that we would perhaps not otherwise have looked at.
Each month Shel puts together a shortlist of 4 titles to choose from, picking from different genres from the list of books that are available from the library. We vote in a WhatsApp poll to choose which book to read next.
