AGM Nominations
By now you should all have received the email setting out the process for electing a new committee at the AGM.
There is nothing new in how we do this. It’s the same for every company and charity in the UK. The only difference this year is some members of the committee will not be standing for re-election.
I don’t want to be all doom and gloom but it is important we have a full committee to fulfill our legal obligations. I feel sure therefore that we will find the necessary 5 members out of 400 to keep our excellent organisation going for another year.
Please consider volunteering your services to become a Trustee and if possible one of the three officer roles.
Constitution Update
The consultation period for the new constitution has passed without any comments that would require any changes or further review. The draft was then sent to the Third Age Trust and has been approved after some very minor edits. The new constitution is now with the Charity Commission for approval.

S U M M E R – by Anne Hill
Here is a Summer poem – summer as we should like it to be!
Softly summer assaults me;
Under a clear and azure sky
Murmuring bees lull my senses;
Myriad shadows shimmer, then fly.
Every day is a riot of colours and greens,
Remember this wonder – too soon it will die.

The Green Fringe Festival

On the very last day of May members of the Tai Chi group took part in the 2026 Rushmoor green fringe festival.
Third Age Matters

Last month we held a survey asking you about the Third Age Matters Magazine.
Just over 50% of our members get the magazine at a cost of £850/year. This sum is paid for out of our membership fee. Of those of receive the magazine:
- About 80 members fully read the magazine.
- Around 90 flick through the magazine
- The remainder barely look at the magazine
Your committee is in discussion about if this cost makes equitable use of our membership income.
Note: the magazine is free. All we pay for is postage.
